This painting is inspired by an award-winning microscopy image that was recognized as the winner of the BioTechniques image competition. Captured by the amazing José Manuel Martínez López (Química Tech, Chihuahua, Mexico), the original microscopy image showcases two amino acids—beta-alanine and glutamine—under polarized light microscopy.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, essential for various functions in the body, including muscle growth, tissue repair, and enzyme production.

Acrylic on canvas, 40 x 50 x 4 cm (16 × 20 × 1.5 in, approx.). Varnished with Golden MSA Satin Varnish (UV-protective).
