Empower the Sentinel

This science artwork using acrylic on canvas (40*50cm) demonstrates CAR-T cells (green) and cancer cells (purple/blue). In CAR-T cell therapy, T cells (a type of immune cells) of a patient are genetically modified to identify and kill cancer cells.

This artwork is split into four pieces that can be rearranged, giving patients a chance to look at it from different angles. Just like how cancer treatments can transform, the movable parts in the painting represent the ability to change and adapt.

The painting was inspired by a microscopic image generated by Dr Prasad Adusumilli from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in the US.
