Degredation

This painting is inspired by research into how the immune system can be strengthened to fight cancer. It depicts the Interleukin-15 (IL-15) receptor, a key component that helps activate natural killer (NK) cells—specialized immune cells that can recognize and destroy cancer cells. The artwork is based on findings from our research (Nikolic et al.), published in Cancer Cell, which identified new molecular pathways that regulate IL-15 signaling through the degradation of the IL-15 receptor, and may help enhance anti-tumor immunity. This painting was featured on the cover of the journal.

Acrylic on canvas, 40 x 50 x 4 cm (16 × 20 × 1.5 in, approx.). Varnished with Golden MSA Satin Varnish (UV-protective).
